I have just retired from forecasting for the National Weather Service (Dec 31 2022) after working there for 38 years. Prior to that I forecast for the United States Air Force from 1976 to 1984. I am very much into forecasting weather and climate and especially love snow storms.

  1. Bill….I have got to admit these drought index maps always seem behind the curve to me. I have received over 6 inches of rain in 3 weeks, there is standing water in some of the fields and with last night’s rain, we are above average rainfall for the year and month but yet my area is still listed as D2. I see the Multi-Indicator long term drought index is finally back to neutral and that seems much better to me.
