Snow is on the way for the Western Great Lakes Sunday and lake effect snow is expected over Michigan and down stream of Lake Erie Monday into Tuesday. It will be much colder the first half of next week too.

Southwest Michigan had it’s first widespread freeze of the fall today.

Here is a quick look at what the low temperatures were this morning over all of Lower Michigan, and a summary of what is normal for a few selected stations in Southwest Michigan. This year, at most stations the first freeze was later than what would be the mean first freeze date.

Severe Storms, on Thursday night (8-24-23) cause power outages, flooding and an EF1 tornado over Lower Michigan. This shows some preliminary reports from the storm last night.

It may be late March but we can still get meaningful snow in Southwest Michigan through the month of April!

While we may well get a significant (shovel-able) amount of snow and enough ice accumulation in areas near or just north of I-96 Saturday, as typical of late March storms, most of the snow and ice will likely be gone by Sunday afternoon. Below is the model (GFS) forecast snow depth by Sunday evening at 8pm.
