I have just retired from forecasting for the National Weather Service (Dec 31 2022) after working there for 38 years. Prior to that I forecast for the United States Air Force from 1976 to 1984. I am very much into forecasting weather and climate and especially love snow storms.

  1. Bill…I keep seeing a couple of different numbers for the 1951-52 winter. One is. 150″ and the other 132″. They must be from different locations.

    1. You are correct, the 150″ in 1951-1952 was from the Post Office location, the 132″ was from the old GRR airport. Due to the Post office being routinely around 2F warmer (monthly mean temp) we chose to not use the Post Office once the Airport observations were available. That switch was in 1939. So, the official number for snowfall in 1951-1952 is 132″.
